Head of Legal & Compliance – China
What's the role?
The incumbent is responsible for all legal and compliance topics for Hilti in Mainland China and a member of management team of Hilti China and five production plants in China in driving sustainable and profitable growth.

What does the role involve?
General Legal Support: Provide legal advice and support to all Hilti entities in China (sales office and production plants), in line with Hilti Group requirements, including:
Ø Commercial and corporate legal matters such as customer contracts, agreement with business partners and dealers / resellers, including project contracts – which is a key growth segment in China.
Ø Advise sales office and plants in mainland China on sourcing and other contractual aspects, including handling of legal relations with suppliers and service providers.
Ø Act as the legal business partner, advising and assisting sales in commercial negotiations and projects
Ø Offer legal advice and support on product liability topics – including assisting in handling customer complaints and product recalls.
Ø Legal / compliance risk assessment and advisory on Hilti’s business operations in China, include the evaluation of potential new business models proposed by Hilti’s China team.
Ø Support as required to employment law, data protection and data compliance and other general legal matters - supporting the advisory and contentious work in collaboration with external law firm.
Compliance Supporting: Offer advice and support in line with the Hilti Group requirements and the global Code of Conduct/Compliance directives to Hilti’s sales office in China.
Litigation Support: Supervise court, tribunal and mediation proceedings.
Co-ordination / Liaison: Interface with the Corporate Legal Department of Hilti Corporation, Regional Legal & Compliance Team.
Ø Support rollout of global contract concepts (sales, service, software and sourcing) and localization of contracts according to local law requirements, and also global / regional legal initiatives.
Engagement of External Counsel: Select and steer outside counsel as required.
Corporate Housekeeping / Legal Training: Support corporate housekeeping of Hilti’s legal entities in China together with external law firms and conducting trainings for General Managers, sales force, marketing, IT and procurement teams.

What you need is:
- Fully qualified lawyer in China with at least 10 years of work experience in legal department from MNCs and/or reputable international / local law firm.
- Relevant experience in a related industry sector (construction / oil & gas industry) is advantageous.
- Entrepreneurial and target-oriented way of thinking; team player with self-dependent working-style, takes a principal stand and does the right thing even if one encounters resistance.
- Excellent in spoken and written Chinese and English and strong communication skills and capable in communicate across different functions/departments.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadline under pressure.
- Well-versed in IT software & technology like MS Office, etc.
- Curious in understanding business, high learning agility and a vision to help institutionalize the legal & compliance function.
